Underfloor heating offers several advantages over traditional heating methods such as:
• Even heat distribution: Warms the entire room evenly, creating a comfortable atmosphere.
• Energy efficiency: Can be more energy-efficient than traditional radiators.
• Improved comfort: Warms the floor, which can feel more comfortable than hot air from radiators.
• Aesthetic appeal: No radiators to obstruct space or clutter the room.
• Health benefits: Can help reduce allergens and dust mites by drying out the floor. The installation time of underfloor heating can vary depending on several factors such as the size of the area, as larger spaces naturally take longer and the type of underfloor heating system being installed – electric underfloor heating systems are generally quicker to install than water underfloor heating systems.
The majority of floor coverings are suitable for underfloor heating, however floor coverings that conduct heat well are best suited for water underfloor heating – floor coverings such as tile, stone and engineered wood. Carpet can be used with underfloor heating, but it is important to consider the combined tog rating of the underlay and carpet, and this should be below 1.5 tog.
A floor sensor may be required depending on several factors such as your floor finish. If you're using a material with a high thermal resistance (like certain types of carpets), a floor sensor can help ensure the floor doesn't overheat. If your thermostat is in a different room or location than the underfloor heating (such as a bathroom), a floor sensor can provide more accurate temperature readings.
Warm-Flo manifolds come in a variety of sizes ranging from a 2-port manifold up to a 12-port manifold. Warm-Flo singe zone set is also available. Anything larger than a 12-port manifold will require an extra manifold.
Underfloor heating generally requires very little maintenance but like everything else, we recommend that you have a professional inspect your system annually to maintain a high-performance system.
Choosing between wet and electric underfloor heating depends on several factors, including your home's size, location, budget, and desired heating efficiency.
